If the plan provided by your job is affordable and meets minimum standards, as most do, you won’t qualify for financial help through Covered California if you decide to switch. The government defines an affordable plan as one that costs less than 9.83 percent of your household income for 2021, or 9.61 percent for 2022, for a plan just for yourself — not your family or household.
